2. Gich camp

5 h: 12 km 720 m up over 3600 m 350 m down

Herds of Gelada Baboons on the way.

Our scout took us to a local family who prepared us a "coffee ceremony" in a clay hut in a village on the way.

This day, we were walking further beyind Gich around the ridge to see it there at the evening as well as tomorrow morning.

1. Sankaber via Buyit Ras

7 h: 24 km 980 m up over 3280 m 580 m down

I actually don't remember whether we camped in Buyit Ras or Sankaber.

From Debark, the Buyit Ras is 4 h and Sankaber another 3-4 h.

Both are viable.

I unfortunately did not take many photos there, but it seems we made it further to the Sankaber to spend more time on the plateau the other day.

Gelada baboons starts to appear from Buyit Ras.

What's nearby:

3. Chennek via Imet Gogo (3947 m)

8 h: 15.9 km 1000 m up over 4060 m 1000 m down

This was the day with the most spectacular views from Imet Gogo (3947 m) and along the ridge.

Some choose to climb also a nearby Ras Bwahit (4430 m) the next day.

We took a taxi back. It was cheaper than a scout.

There is an alternative return path via Ambaras

Scouts are mandatory in Simien Mountains.

Mules with a handler to carry stuff optional.

Tent and food necessary.

A vehicle to return back from the end of the trip in Chennek back was cheaper than

Position of the photos are not accurate. I logged just couple of GPS points, so the locations might be quite rough or I might misplaced some of the photos. Sorry, I didn't track a GPX there.
