Easy approach from a parking area. Paved road to a military cemetery, ascent through meadows, then gravel up to the via ferrata start at 2600 m at the foot of the south face. 

Fist part of the descent from Rifugio Forcella Pordoi is steep through a scree, then nice meadows again.
