What's nearby:
This is a good start only when you already have a good altitude acclimatization.
Commute
Best is to take a train to Lauterbrunen from Interlaken and then return back by a bus and train back from Blatten to Interlaken.
We were lucky to get a hitchhike that was faster than the bus.
Railway to Jungfraujoch
Train from car parking in Lauterbrunnen or cable car in Grindelwald (~110 ChF). Check availability online. Note the last time! When sold-out online, you can try to buy the ticket in the train with a small surcharge.
Three connections in total. The last train that drives through tunel waits costs the most and waits ~5 mins in the tunel with the views of Eiger.
A Half-Fare Travel Card (~185 ChF/year) is valid even on this train.
