Dawn in the west
Ski tour to Hildesheimer Hütte from Stubaier gletscher
2.3 km 90 m up over 3140 m 330 m down (0.5 h moving)
Lift to Jochdohle (both lifts to Eisjoch from both gondolas go there). Access: bus or car.
When there is a good avalanche forecast, the you can downhill off-piste from the Jochdohle.
There's one steeper path to climb to the lake near the hut. Otherwise it's quite easy.
Same way back. With a bit of luck you can take a lift back up without the guy checking a ticket.
Red (#14) or black piste down to parking, but check there are snow conditions on the way up.
Alternatively return by gondola. When lucky they might not check the ticket on the way back.
Only the winterraum of HildesheimerHuette is open during the winter.
Keys not needed.
The sunrise, sunset and night stars are worth getting up!
There is an oven, basic dishes and wood to warm up, cook or melt snow into a water and couple of blankets, but surely take a sleeping bag and it’s worth checking with the hut keeper if you want to rely on anything of that.
Electricity did not work on our visit but there were couple of candles that made nicer light than our flash lignts.
There were couple of beers left from the past visitors. We drank them and left a champagne for others:)
