Safety

Avalanche equipment, training and experiences needed. Crampon, ice axe, rope (30 m is OK) and basic climbing skills necessary. 

• Avalanche reports and snow levels: Avalanche.report or White risk.

• Weather forecast: Meteo Suisse or MeteoBlue (more optimistic).

• Mountain Rescue: 1415 in Valais region (Air-Glaciers), 1414 (Air-Rescue Rega) elsewhere in Switzerland.

Huts

• Schönbielhütte (2694 m)

• Cabane du Mountet (2886 m) is open 2 months in the winter and 3 in the summer. The winterraum is open all year long unlocked. 

• Cabane Arpitettaz (2786 m) is a small cabin run free of charge by a group of about 50 volunteers.

• Cabane de Tracuit (3259 m)
