What's nearby:
There are many variations of the circuit. From longer, meadowy ascents from the beautiful Gossau See or Hallstatt lakes, to glacier crossing (crevases) and via ferratas with an overnight at Seethalerhütte (2740 m) at the top instead of traversing around or taking the cable lift directly to the top to hike only the ferratas.
Guttenberg Haus (2146 m), built in 1914
Down via Austriahütte
Alternatives and Dachstein glacier
There's no water on the eastern part of the trail except for huts. Carry plenty of water, especially in sunny summer weather. Most of the trail is pretty dry terrain over sharp rocks.
No dogs are allowed in the area.
