Monviso (3841 m) climb
The Rifugio Vallanta (2450 m) was designed by Turin architects Giuseppe Bellezza and Maurizio Momo and built in 1988. It copies a shape of 3 opposing mountains from 3 sides: Viso di Vallanta (3781 m) in Dado di Viso, Visolotto (3348 m) and Punta Caprera (3380 m).
More about the history of the hut.
All mountain huts are oases in the wilderness of rugged peaks. Each one is special, with its own place and rules. The safe harbor to rest after a strenuous day. Home.
But this one was very special. I never saw a hut that would fit its surroundings that well. It strikes right when you get in front of it.
