A famous high-altitude ski tour since mid-19th century: between the Mont Blanc, Argentière/Chamonix and the Matterhorn, Zermatt.

Most days over 3500 m+.

The route typically takes 6 days to complete, but there are many variations, such as:

  • longer and easier start with an acclimatization at the Refuge Albert 1er (2707 m)

  • classic variant 6-7 days with taxi assistance via Champex

  • purist variant, entirely on skis via Col de la Grande Lui

  • extensions to the Haute Route Impériale or Spaghetti Route

Knowledge of traversing avalanche and glacier terrain with crevasses is essential.
